Black bean carrot pork bone soup



Ingredients: black bean, carrot, pork bone, red dates, water


First time trying: Black bean

Method:
- pre-soak black bean for few hours 
- wash the ingredients clean
- use hot water to run over pork bone 
- peel carrot and dice to chunks 
- put all the ingredients in a bowl
- fill in water and bring to boil
- once it is boiling, turn to medium heat and continue to boil for another 1.5-2 hours
- serve with rice or mee



Blueberry peach smoothie


Ingredients: blueberry, peach, one teaspoon of honey, a cup of fresh milk, two tablespoons of yogurt 

Method:
- wash ingredient clean
- peel peach, dice to chunks
- put the fruits in blender
- add yogurt, honey and fresh milk
- blend and serve. 

Fresh peach lemonade


Ingredients
  • 3 cups fresh peaches, diced (about 6 peaches)
  • Zest of 3 lemons
  • 1½ cups sugar
  • 6 cups cold water or sparkling water, divided
  • 1 cup fresh lemon juice (juice of about 7 lemons)
  • Garnish (peach slices, lemon slices, mint)
Instructions
  1. In a large saucepan over medium heat, add diced peaches, lemon zest, sugar and 2 cups of water.
  2. Stir to dissolve sugar and let mixture simmer. (do not boil, reduce heat if needed)
  3. When peaches are very soft, mash them with a potato masher or fork to break them up.
  4. Let mixture simmer until it thickens slightly.
  5. Remove from heat and let cool.
  6. Strain the peach syrup mixture into a bowl and discard the solids.
  7. Add the lemon juice to the peach mixture.
  8. Pour into a pitcher along with 4 cups of water or sparkling water.
  9. Refrigerate until cold if desired.
  10. Fill glasses with ice.
  11. Fill with peach lemonade.
  12. Garnish with fresh peach slices, fresh lemon slices and mint.
  13. Serve immediately

Anti-oxidant smoothie


Ingredients: blueberry, grape, banana, one teaspoon of lemon juice, fresh milk

- cut grapes and blueberry to half 
- put the fruits in blender
- add lemon juice and a cup of fresh milk
- blend and serve.

Nutrients in Rice

It is well-known that brown rice is a healthier alternative to white. The difference between the two is that white rice is devoid of bran, which is full of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Like brown rice, black rice has similar nutrient levels and higher amounts of antioxidants. It is also a source of fiber and minerals, including iron. A 100 gram serving of black rice has 8.5 grams of protein, 3.5 milligrams of iron and 4.9 grams of fiber. Compared to white, brown and red rices, black rice has the highest amount of protein and double the fiber of brown rice.

Bitter gourd pork rib soup


Ingredients: bitter gourd, pork rib, ginger, red dates, water

First time trying: Bitter gourd 

Method:
- wash the ingredients clean
- use hot water to run over pork ribs 
- peel bitter gourd and cut in half lengthwise, remove the seeds
- rub small amount of salt on the bitter gourd, rinse off. 
- slice bitter gourd and ginger 
- put all the ingredients in a bowl
- fill in water and bring to boil
- once it is boiling, turn to medium heat and continue to boil for another 1.5-2 hours
- serve with rice or mee

Remarks: Bitter gourd soup is often cooked by the Chinese when the weather is hot as it believed to have cooling effects on the body. 

Cherry tomato okra mee suah


Ingredients: okra, yellow and red cherry tomato, mee suah, chicken broth 

First time trying: Okra 

Method: 
- wash the ingredients clean 
- slice okra
- cook mee suah in chicken broth
- put in cherry tomatoes and okra 
- cook for another 5 minutes before remove from heat. Serve.


Cheerios yogurt fruit parfait


Ingredients: strawberry, blueberry, banana, yogurt, cheerios

Method: 
- wash the fruits clean 
- slice strawberry and banana 
- put yogurt as base in a glass 
- then cheerios and fruits
- repeat with yogurt then cheerios and fruits



Blueberry smoothie


Ingredients: blueberry, plum, banana, yogurt, fresh milk

Method:
- wash ingredient clean
- peel plum and banana, dice to chunks
- put the fruits in blender
- add two tablespoons of yogurt and a cup of fresh milk
- blend and serve. 


Cheesy french toast


Ingredients: egg, cheese slice, unsalted butter, two tablespoons of fresh milk, bread

Method: 
- beat an egg
- soak bread in fresh milk then egg
- melt unsalted butter in frying on over medium heat 
- place bread on frying pan, flip both sides
- put cheese slice on top of bread 
- fold the bread
- remove from heat and done 

Green apple kiwi smoothie


Ingredients: green apple, kiwi, banana, yogurt, honey, water

Method:
- wash ingredient clean
- peel green apple, kiwi and banana, dice to chunks
- put the fruits in blender
- add one teaspoons of honey, two tablespoons of yogurt, water 
- blend and serve. 






Tomato rice


Ingredients: whole tomato,chopped french bean, rice, sea salt, oil, parmesan cheese 

Method: 
- wash ingredients clean 
- put rice in rice cooker, add water (like how we normally cook rice)
- put french bean, add pinch of sea salt, few drops of oil, place whole tomato in the center 
- start to cook 
- once done, put some parmesan cheese on top and cover for five minutes 
- mash the tomato and mix with the cooked rice. Serve. 

Physalis orange juice


Ingredients: Physalis, orange, water 

First time trying: Physalis

Method: 
- peel orange and dice to chunks 
- place orange and physalis in blender 
- add some water and blend 
- gradually add water if juice is too thick

Papaya milk


Ingredients: half small papaya, one cup of fresh milk

Method:
- wash papaya
- cut half and scoop out the flesh 
- put papaya and fresh milk in blender 
- blend and serve 

Passion fruit blancmange


Ingredients: one passion fruit, two tablespoons cornflour, 300ml milk, one tablespoon caster sugar

Method: 
- combine cornflour with a little bit of milk to form a smooth paste.
- place remaining milk and caster sugar into a saucepan. Bring to boil while stirring. 
- remove from heat. Gradually blend in cornflour mixture. 
- return to heat. Bring the mixture to boil while stirring. Reduce heat, simmer for 3 minutes, remove from heat. 
- stir in passion fruit pulp. 
- pour mixture into mould.
- refrigerate until firm. 
- loosen edges, remove mould and put blancmange into a serving dish. 
- serve with fresh fruit. 

Tomato cheese sandwich


Ingredients: sliced cherry tomato, bread, cheese slices, unsalted butter

Method: 
- spread butter on two slices of bread
- fry on frying pan
- put cheese slices on top of one of he bread 
- add tomato slices 
- cover with another slice of bread 
- flip two sides. Serve. 

Passion fruit mango orange juice


Ingredients: passion fruit, mango, orange, water 

Method: 
- peel mango and orange, dice to chunks. 
- halves passion fruit and take out the pulp
- blend everything in blender, add water to reach the consistency that you want. 

Passion fruit panna cotta


Ingredients: passion fruit, yogurt, gelatin powder, caster sugar, cold water 

First time trying: Passion fruit 

Method: 
  1. Mix the gelatine powder and cold water, and leave to sponge (about 5-10 minutes)
  2. On the stovetop using a small saucepan, heat the passion fruit & sugar over medium heat and stir until the sugar has dissolved. Now add the sponged gelatine and stir until the gelatine has dissolved completely. Don’t let it boil – turn the heat down to very low.
  3. Strain the warm passion fruit mixture through a sieve to remove any seeds. Then add it to the yoghurt and stir well.
  4. Pour the mixture into moulds or glasses – pannacotta don’t need to be turned out, so I like to serve it in beautiful glass jars or glasses. Refrigerate for a few hours or until set, then top with more passion fruit pulp before serving.

Flourless banana pancake


Ingredients: banana, egg

Method:
- beat an egg
- mash the banana with fork
- mix mashed banana with egg
- pour the mixture in frying pan
- cook until small bubbles form and then flip. Can serve with honey (honey for above 1yo)

Turnip sweet potato soup


Ingredients: turnip, sweet potato, garlic, onion, water 

First time trying: Turnip

Method: 
- peel and cut turnip and sweet potato into small pieces. 
- chop garlic and onion. 
- sauté onion and garlic in a bowl
- add turnip and sweet potato, stir for about 5 minutes. 
- cover with water/chicken stock. 
- bring to boil and cook until vegetables are tender. 
- add salt to taste. 

Remark: can introduce turnip to baby from 8-10m.

Milo pudding


Ingredients: 3 tablespoons milo milk powder, one egg, 2/3 cup of fresh milk

Method:
- boil the milk and slowly add in milo powder.
- beat an egg in a bowl then slowly add in the boiled milo milk into the egg.
- strain the mixture then pour into pudding jar. 
- double boil for about 6-8 minutes at medium heat. 
- put in fridge for 3-4 hours prior serving. 

Fried pasta with pumpkin sauce


Ingredients: pumpkin, red capsicum, carrot, button mushroom, salmon, garlic, grated cheese, baby pasta, olive oil, water 

Method: 
- boil baby pasta in a bowl, add few drops of olive oil to prevent pasta from sticking, once cooked, set aside 
- wash the ingredient clean and dice to chunks 
- prepare pumpkin purée (chop, steam and blend) 
- heat up frying pan with olive oil 
- sauté onion until fragrance 
- add chopped carrot, button mushroom, capsicum and fry. 
- add salmon and fry. 
- add baby pasta, fry. 
- add pumpkin purée and fry. 
- add some grated cheese before turn off the heat. Serve. 

Strawberry fig smoothie


Ingredients: fig, strawberry, honey, fresh milk

First time trying: Fig 

Method:
- wash the fruits clean 
- bottom layer: mash up strawberries, with some water 
- pink layer: cut fig and strawberries to chunks, put in blender, add one cup of fresh milk, add one teaspoon of honey, blend and pour on top of bottom layer. Done. 


Red radish + pea sprout pork bone soup


Ingredients: sliced red radish, pea sprout, pork bone, few drops of sesame oil, sea salt, water 

Method: 
- blanch the pork bone
- add pork bone to pot and fill the pot with water, start to boil.
- once start boiling, add sesame oil and sliced red radish 
- boil for about an hour.
- add peasprout
- boil for another 10 minutes. 
- can add sea salt to taste. 

Pea sprout + enokitake + button mushroom soup


Ingredients: pea sprout, enokitake, button mushroom, water 

Method: 
- rinse the ingredients
- slice button mushroom
- add everything in a pot and add water to fill the pot 
- boil for about 30 minutes. Serve. 

Red radish potato soup


Ingredients: sliced red radish, potato chunks, garlic, sea salt, olive oil, fresh milk

First time trying: red radish 

Method: 
- heat oil in a large saucepan over medium high heat.
- add garlic and sliced red radish and cook, stir frequently, until radishes are translucent, about 5 minutes. 
- add potatoes, milk and salt to taste. Bring to boil, stir occasionally, until potato is tender. 
- puree the mixture in a blender until smooth. Serve. 

Caramel apple pudding


Ingredients: apple, egg, brown sugar, fresh milk, water

Method: 
- to make bottom caramel part: add one teaspoon of brown sugar in a small pot and start to boil, once sugar boil to dissolve, add 60ml of warm water, stir. Turn off fire once boiling, pour sugar to pudding jar. Once cool, put pudding jar in freezer to solidify. 
- peel and dice apples to chunks
- place apple and 30ml of fresh milk in blender and blend and sieve. 
- (one egg requires 100ml fresh milk. If the end product of sieved apple milk is 60ml, add another 40ml of fresh milk.) 
- beat egg to apple milk, stir evenly, sieve 2 times.
- get pudding jar from the freezer, pour in apple milk
- place the pudding jar in steamer and steam for 10 minutes. 
- done. Once pudding is cooled, put in fridge. Serve chill. 

Remark: for baby who has not tried whole egg and fresh milk, can substitute with egg yolk and formula milk/breast milk. 

Beet berry smoothie


Ingredients: beetroot, strawberry, banana, yogurt, honey, fresh milk

Method: 
- peel and steam the beetroot 
- dice beetroot, strawberry and banana to chunks
- put in blender
- add two tablespoons yogurt 
- add one tablespoon honey
- add one cup of fresh milk
- blend and drink



Asparagus scramble


Ingredients: asparagus, egg, minced onion, olive oil

Method: 
- sauté onion in skillet over medium heat
- add chopped asparagus and cook, stir fry
- lightly beat the egg 
- pour egg into skillet
- (can add shredded cheese)
- shaking skillet and turning over vegetables and egg mixture until cooked 
- serve scramble warm

Ingredients: Nectarine, yogurt 

Method: 
- wash, peel and pit nectarine
- dice to chunk
- add in to blender, add 1-2 tablespoons of yogurt
- blend and serve 

Beetroot parsnip carrot soup + pork meatball


Ingredients & method : 
1) Beetroot parsnip carrot soup
  • Beetroot, parsnip, carrot, water
- wash the ingredients clean, peel the skin and chop to pieces 
- put the ingredients in a bowl
- add water to cover the ingredients and start to boil
- turn to medium heat once it starts boiling and continue to boil for 30-45 min 
- serve with rice or mee

2) Pork meatball 
  • Minced pork, egg, flour, onion, garlic, oil
- chop onion and garlic finely
- sauté onion and garlic in frying pan for about 5 minutes. Set aside
- mix minced pork with egg, then add in a little white flour
- add in cooked onion and garlic and form ball shape
- add oil and fry with medium heat 
- ready when meatballs turn brown 

Chicken soup with fennel, leeks, carrot + apple


Ingredients: fennel, leeks, carrot, apple, chicken, water

First time trying: Fennel

Method:
- wash the ingredients clean
- use hot water to run over chicken
- remove fennel stems and cut the bulb to half
- peel carrot, chop carrot and leeks
- put all the ingredients in a bowl
- fill in water and bring to boil
- once it is boiling, turn to medium heat and continue to boil for another 1.5-2 hours
- serve with rice or mee

Steam tomato goji cod fish


Ingredients: cod fish, 2-3 cherry tomato, goji, ginger 

First time trying: Cod fish 

Method:
- peel and slice ginger, halved cherry tomatoes
- run slice of cod fish under tap water to wash clean 
- marinate with ginger for about half an hour in a plate
- put cherry tomato and goji on top of the fish
- (depending on the size of the fish) steam for 15-20 minutes
- serve with rice 

Chayote pork soup + mee suah


Ingredients: chayote, pork, goji, mee suah, water

First time trying: Chayote 


Method:
- wash the ingredients clean
- use hot water to run over pork
- peel chayote and dice smal chunks
- put all the ingredients in a bowl
- fill in water and bring to boil
- once it is boiling, turn to medium heat and continue to boil for another 1.5-2 hours
- serve with rice or mee

Remark: mommysheree didn't add salt or seasoning to the soup

Mushroom potato soup + pumpkin sauce pasta



Ingredients & method : 
1) Mushroom potato soup

  • Button mushrooms, potato, onion, olive oil
- wash the ingredients and chop finely
- bake potato (mommysheree bake with breadmaker for about 20 min) 
- heat the pan with oil
- sauté onion
- add mushroom, stir fry 
- add potato, stir fry
- add water to cover the ingredients and simmer until cooked
- put in food processor and blend. Serve. 

2) Pumpkin sauce pasta 
  • Pumpkin, tomato, broccoli, shredded cheese, baby pasta 
- boil pasta in a bowl, add a drop of oil to prevent pasta from sticking. Set aside once cooked. 
- wash the ingredients clean
- dice to chunks
- steam pumpkin, tomato and broccoli for about 10 min
- blend to puree form
- add some shredded cheese 
- serve with cooked pasta 



First food: Durian


Ingredient: Durian 

Method: 
- let baby self feed 

Remark: Baby Julius didn't really eat it, just lick and turned his head away. Guess he didn't like it then. Not recommended to feed too much to baby due to its high sugar content. 

White radish seaweed soup


Ingredients: White radish, seaweed, pork ribs, red dates, thumb size ginger, water


Method:
- wash the ingredients clean
- soak seaweed for 2 hours then rinse, cut small pieces
- peel and dice white radish
- blanch the pork ribs 
- put all the ingredients in a pot
- add water and start to boil 
- turn to medium heat once boiling and continue to boil for 1.5-2 hours.

Water chestnut + sugar cane drink


Ingredients: water chestnut, sugar cane, water 

Method: 
- wash the ingredients 
- peel the skin of water chestnut and sugar cane
- dice to chunks 
- put the ingredients in a bowl and fill in water
- bring to boil for about 45 minutes. Serve

Remark: 
1) the taste is bland as mommy didn't add sugar, you may add sugar to enhance the taste 
2) water chestnut sugar cane drink is great in cooling the body during hot weather season

Apricot cherry oat


Ingredients: apricot, cherry, 2 spoons of organic rolled oat (blend to powder form), 400ml water 

Method: 
- wash the fruit clean
- peel apricot, dice the fruits to small chunks

- in a bowl, add water and oat and bring to boil
- add fruits and continue to cook (or you may add fruit after oat is cooked, before serve)
- total cooking time around 10-15 minutes. Serve. 

Watercress soup + mee suah


Ingredients: watercress, carrot, chicken, red dates, goji, water 

Method:
- wash the ingredients clean
- use hot water to run over chicken
- peel carrot and dice smal chunks
- put all the ingredients in a bowl
- fill in water and bring to boil
- once it is boiling, turn to medium heat and continue to boil for another 1.5-2 hours
- serve with rice or mee

Remark: Baby Julius loves soup!

Longan milk pudding


Ingredients: longan, fresh milk, gelatin

First time trying: Longan

Method: 
- heat up milk over low heat and add in gelatin until dissolve
- 5g gelatin power and 200g liquid
- peel and stone longan and cut to smaller pieces
- put longan in pudding container
- add milk with dissolved gelatin to container containing longan
- let it cool down and fridge for 4 hours before serve 

Remark: taste is rather bland as mommysheree didn't add sugar, to enhance the taste can add sugar to milk and boil.

Celery chicken + vege soup


Ingredients & method : 
1) Celery chicken
  • Celery, chicken, carrot, onion
- wash the ingredients and chop finely
- heat the pan with oil
- sauté onion
- add chicken, stir fry
- add celery and carrot, stir fry
- add water bit by bit and fry till cooked

2) Vege soup
  • Carrot, corn, tomato, beetroot, red dates 
- wash the ingredients clean
- dice to chunks
- add all ingredients in a bowl
- add plenty of water
- boil for about 1 hour. Done 




Chicken tomato cheesy rice


Ingredients: tomato, broccoli, celery, chicken, rice, cheese block 

Method: 
- wash the ingredients clean
- dice the ingredients
- put all ingredients in rice cooker
- add water and cook (add a lil more water to cook and make soft rice)
- once cooked, add some cheese on top of rice and cover for another 5 minutes. Serve 

Guava banana smoothie


Ingredients: Guava, banana, yogurt, water

First time trying: Guava

Method: 
- wash guava clean
- peel banana and guava skin 
- cut guava in half and scoop the seeds out
- dice guava in small chunks 
- mix fruits and two spoon of yogurt in blender
- blend until smooth
- can add water to dilute if it is too thick

First food : Mangosteen


Ingredient: Mangosteen

Method: 
- pull the stem out
- crack open the mangosteen with your hands
- serve the white edible part, eat raw

Long bean + pumpkin + tomato chicken porridge


Ingredients: long bean, pumpkin, tomato, chicken, rice

First time trying: Long bean  

Method:
- wash the ingredients clean 
- dice the ingredients to small chunks 
- put pumpkin, chicken and rice in a small pot
- add water until it covers the ingredients and half of the pot
- stove cook for 45 minutes to one hour 
- stir occasionally
- add tomato and long bean, continue to boil for another 10 minutes before turning off fire. Serve.

Method: 
- wash the fruit clean
- peel apple, dice to small chunks
- cut blackberries in half 

- in a bowl, add water and oat and bring to boil
- add fruits and continue to cook (or you may add fruit after oat is cooked, before serve)
- total cooking time around 10-15 minutes. Serve. 

Remark: mommysheree chose organic rolled oat (also called old-fashioned oat) for Baby Julius, as instant oat tend to be less nutritious because they have usually had sugar, salt or other flavoring added to them.
